SPEAKING FROM EXPERIENCE - development

Once I had an idea of all the unnecessary items Graphic Design students spend their money on, I needed to compile together a list of items that are worth the cost, useful and relevant to their course.
Each category was cut down to roughly six items in order to make things more manageable, with both genders taken into consideration.

£0 - 5

Bottled water

Cigarettes
Impulse purchases
Bought lunch

Berol fine liners
Sharpies
Metal ruler
Scalpel
Bulldog clips
Energy
Teabags
Sandwich stuff

£5 - 10

Unnecessary

Takeaway

£10+

Considered formats - working out how the illustrations would fit into the outcome

How this would fit in with the illustrations

I then drew each necessary item by hand, so that they could be scanned in and live traced. The illustrations were to be kept simple, and playful, however, some colour will be used in order to brighten them up and give them a bit of character. Hopefully, this style will appeal to my target audience, whilst also being relevant to the content. I didn't want to over-complciate things too much as I received feedback to keep things simple and to the point.

I used my own items in order to create the illustrations, except Lost zine from Pikaland.com
