Here are the boards that I prepared for the crit in order to demonstrate to the group what exactly it was that I was planning on doing.

Strengths
- Good gathering of facts and figures
- Everything is relevant to the problem
Areas for improvement
- Needs to be more graphic design related
- include maybe print costs and other design stuff you need to buy
Research
Comment on the extent to which research methods and source material have been used to inform the development of solutions to the brief
Strengths
- In depth investigation
- Experience based research - so true about the milkshakes
Areas for improvement
- Could do a bit more visual research
Design Development
Comment on the decisions made with regards to practical investigation, proposed design solutions and choice of media
Strengths
- It should be a really relevant and effective idea
Areas for improvement
- Need to start designing
- You have a good idea
- After you do some visual investigation, you should get an idea what the object is you want to design

- Facts and figures about the money issues show good research
- Has used own experience and has expanded it to look into how you could solve it
- Good use of categorisation on what people waste money on
Areas for improvement
- Make the concept more simple, there is lots to work on but maybe too much to look at in their short time frame

- Include more visual research

- Clear development
- Shown range of different ideas
Areas for improvement
- Narrow down information so you don't get overwhelmed
- Work on what the outcome is going to be
I took a lot away from this crit, and it really helped me to focus my ideas. I realised that I needed to start narrowing down my information and making it more simple, so that I didn't get too overwhelmed by the amount of information there is out there about students and finance. My plan of action was therefore to go away and find a way of focusing the issue of unnecessary spends, simplifying this, whilst making it relevant to Graphic Design students.
By displaying unnecessary spends, individuals can see where they can cut back, as well as more effective ways of spending their money. There are better and more wiser ways to spend your money if you're going to do so.
