EXHIBITION - Dr Me

Dr Me came in and gave us a live brief to complete as part of a collaboration. For this brief I was working with Katie, and the objective was to create a flag. The brief was very open, and therefore we had a range of initial starting points. We ended up basing our design on a lyric in a song by The National.

The flag was made up of two layers: fabric and acetate. The fabric layer was digitally printed, covered in a collage of flowers that we had produced using clippings from magazines. The acetate layer featured hand written type of the chosen lyric. These two were then layered up to create a new format for a flag.

Overall, we were extremely pleased with our design as we used a number of processes that we hadn't worked with before. It also evidently gave us the opportunity to see our flag within an exhibition space outside of the university.

This was a great opportunity for us, as it allowed us to work on a live brief with a studio. We were proud that our work was being displayed also, allowing it to be seen by individuals in the industry. This gave us the confidence to try and experience this situation more often. It also gave us a taste of what it is like to work for a client.
